Social Skills & Group Programming

Why it helps

Social skills groups provide children and youth with opportunities to build meaningful connections in a supportive environment. Using a structured curriculum, these groups focus on areas such as communication, turn taking, perspective taking, problem solving, life skills and managing emotions in social situations. Each session follows planned activities that allow children & youth to learn, practice, and generalize skills with their peers. The curriculum ensures consistency while also being flexible enough to meet individual needs. By building skills in a step by step way, participants gain confidence, form friendships, and learn how to navigate real life social settings more successfully while having fun.

Children's Group Programming

Our children’s social and specialty groups give kids the chance to connect with peers while building meaningful skills for everyday life. Guided by skilled and trained facilitators, each program follows a curriculum that supports self regulation, confidence, friendship building, and positive peer relationships in a fun and supportive environment. Facilitators create learning spaces that match each child’s unique needs, helping them learn at their own pace while celebrating progress along the way. With gentle guidance, modeling, and encouragement, facilitators help children practice important skills such as decision making, problem solving, and collaboration. Most importantly, our groups are filled with fun and joy, making learning feel natural and exciting. Alongside social groups, we offer hobby based options like art clubs and gaming groups, where children can explore their interests, build independence, and feel a strong sense of belonging. These experiences allow children to grow socially, emotionally, and personally while making lasting friendships.

Youth Group Programming

Our youth social and specialty groups give teens the chance to connect with peers while building meaningful skills for everyday life. Guided by skilled and trained facilitators, programs follow a curriculum that supports self regulation, confidence, friendship building, and positive peer relationships in a safe and encouraging environment. Facilitators create spaces that meet each youth at their current level, ensuring skills are introduced at the right pace and gradually expanded as confidence grows. Groups also promote independence by practicing decision making, problem solving, and collaboration in ways that feel engaging and relevant. Fun is a key part of every session, with activities designed to spark interest and build on what matters most to youth. Beyond social skill development, we offer hobby based and interest driven options such as art clubs and gaming groups, giving participants the chance to explore passions, express creativity, and build a sense of belonging. These experiences help youth grow socially, emotionally, and personally while forming lasting friendships and preparing for the future.

Who Should Join?

Our groups are open to children and youth of all abilities who would benefit from extra support in building social, emotional, and everyday life skills. No diagnosis is required to participate. We welcome participants who may find peer interactions challenging, those looking to gain confidence in group settings, or youth wanting to build independence and explore their interests in a supportive space. Groups are matched by age and skill level to ensure that every child and youth can learn, have fun, and feel successful. Most importantly, our programs are run in a safe and inclusive environment that is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQ2S+ affirming. Every child and youth is valued, respected, and encouraged to be themselves.
