Liz Hathazi, M.A., Director is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is a member of The Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA).

She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1993 with a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders and began practicing in her hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario, working at The Shanahan Center. She remained with the practice and has been part of its growth and evolution into what is now Creative Therapy Associates.

In 2015, Liz, along with her lifetime co-worker Melanie Maunula, purchased Creative Therapy Associates. Her managerial interest includes collaboratively creating diverse effective programs for agencies and individuals with Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy needs. Liz also continues to focus on her work as a clinician in the school setting, where she has gained experience with children who have a broad range of communication challenges. Liz recognizes the importance of working closely with school teams and students' families to provide the best possible treatment outcomes for these students.

Over the past 20 years, Liz has also developed a strong passion for helping Indigenous communities in Northwestern Ontario, by creating and implementing evidence-based culturally sensitive programming and providing educational workshops and training to help their children reach their goals. Liz has achieved training and certification for courses in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Individual Authorizer ADP (Assistive Devices Program), ESDM Training (for autism)***, Therapy for School-Age Children for CAS, RTI Activities across the Three Tier, and Auditory Processing Issues in Adolescents.

Liz's areas of clinical interest include articulation, motor speech disorders, receptive and expressive language delays, language processing and auditory memory delays, and autism. In her spare time Liz enjoys spending relaxing time with her two children, and being active in Thunder Bay’s great outdoors biking, hiking and running.
